Bio: Ashwaq Maharm (@ashwagmaharm) is an obstetrician and a gynecologist. she earned her Master's Degree in family medicine from Malaysia. She is a social activist that works in development and humanitarian programs. She joints voluntary work in primary care health in Al-Hudidah.

In 2003, Maharm became the head of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department in Maternity and Childhood Hospital. She then was appointed to be in charge of the Reproductive Health Office in Al-Hali District in Al-Hodiadah. She was appointed several positions, including the Director of the Department of Sexually Transmitted Diseases at the Ministry of Health in 2005, the Director of the Early Discovery Department of Breast and Cervical Cancer at the Ministry of Health in 2006, and the Director of the Department of Reproductive Health in Al-Hodeidah. She achieved high positions in her specialization until she became the Deputy Heath Manager in 2010.

Ashwaq has experience in conflict resolution and providing support for IDPs. She provides health services through her private vehicle, as she uses it as a mobile clinic to help people in remote areas. She has many achievements in developmental programs; She built a water network in many villages inside Al-Hodidah to provide clean water. She also helped in building bathrooms, a health center, a school, and a mosque in Al-Tohita Village.

Ashwaq participates in many events, conferences, and workshops. In 2016, she was selected to be a member of the Feminist Compatibility for Security and Peace. She was also chosen among the 100 most influential women in the world. Ashwaq was selected to be a member of the Arabic Women Leaders in wartime (WAW).

She worked with BBC channel to produce a documentary film that shows the famine in Yemen. The film was awarded as one of the best documentaries in 2018. Maharm worked with a German channel and produced another film about the malnutrition in Yemen.
