Bio: Wesam Basendowah (@wesamee) is the head of the March 8 Bloc for Yemeni Women. She is an expert in political research and human rights defense. She works as the chair of the Arab Initiative for Education and Development. She used to work as an Editor-in-Chief for a number of specialized journals. She has also held the position of Associate Professor in a number of Arab universities. Wesam has a number of research and political books published, including the book Memory of a Crisis Revolution which discusses the history of Yemen between 2011 and 2016. She published analytical follow-ups about the political development in Yemen through a weekly column on the opinion page titled Yemen’s Message of the Egyptian newspaper, Al-Shorouk.  

Wesam completed a Ph.D. in Political Science, with a focus on International Relations (2011), and a Ph.D. in Political Science with a focus on Women's Studies (2007). She also holds a BA and MA Degrees in Political Science. Wesam has many research papers on the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) about the Lebanese crisis, Arab-Arab relations, the Iran-Gulf conflict, Arab- Gulf relations, the Afghan crisis, legal, economic studies, and research, the Zionist crisis, democratic development in Yemen, and a number of reports and research on women and gender studies.
