Brief bio: Hala Muhammad Al-Awlaki, an independent journalist and human rights defender, has been living for two years in Turin - Italy. She has a Bachelor's degree in Media - Radio and Television - University of Sana'a. Currently, Hala works as a volunteer teacher for the Arabic language for non-native speakers with the Speak Initiative. 

At the Mosaico association for the defense of refugee rights in Turin - Italy - Hala worked as a volunteer coordinator for the activities of the Joseph Torino Giosef organization - Torino. 

She participated in giving lectures on the humanitarian situation and the struggle of Yemenis as a result of the ongoing war in Yemen in front of the free port workers - Genoa, Italy. And in front of high school students about the experience of asylum seekers and the repercussions of the war in Yemen on the humanitarian situation, especially for students in schools, and the deteriorating educational situation due to the war. 

One of the first advocates easing the suffering of Yemeni asylum seekers, who are stranded abroad during her participation in World Refugee Day conferences and seminars. Hala and a group of active women founded the Women for Peace initiative, and also a founding member in Wujud Initiative to Support Refugees - Cairo with a group of volunteers. 

Hala worked as a coordinator for the Danish Red Cross humanitarian projects in Yemen 2017. She was also active in awareness-raising to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic individually and as part of a team of volunteers in Yemen through social media. She wrote extensively and raised awareness through a radio series (Woob) that was broadcast on Radio Yemen Times - Sana'a, in which Hala had previously worked as a producer and presenter for the human rights and awareness program, Article 19. 

Hala continuously seeks to advance her education, and has enrolled at the arts of communication college of Antonio at the University of Turin - Italy, and has also studied glass art, through an advanced degree as she believes that arts support the spirit of creativity and development among those seeking to empower people with rights and freedoms.
