Bio: Huda Al-Attas (@hudaalattas27) is a lecturer in Aden University, specialized in Sociology literature. She is a writer and has a collection of stories, the latest in 2018 titled Wahedan , which focus on women's issues and their social perception. She won many Yemeni and Arabic awards for her work in literature, some of which are Alafif Foundation Award, The Sharjah Prize, and The Arab Dewan Magazine Award. She was also awarded The Shield of Hadramout as the Best Hadrami Writer. Al-Attas was ranked as the best storyteller in the Yemeni Press Survey and her stories got translated to many languages and distributed in several countries. Huda’s stories were included in the Arabic Curriculum in the World Institute in Paris.
Al-Attas is a member of the Arab Union for Books and Writers and a member of the Yemeni Union for Writers. In 2001, she won an overwhelming majority in the election of the Secretariat of Rights and Freedoms in the Yemeni Union. It was the first time in the union's history that a woman holds a senior position. She then became the Administrative Secretariat of the union and she always fought for the freedom of expressions and opinion. Al-Attas has weekly column articles in different newspapers, such as Cultural Republic, Al-Nedaa, and the Omani newspaper Al-Watan. Huda established the Yemeni Foundation for Social Studies that has published several books and conducted numerous studies about corruption, democracy, and the positions of women in society.
Huda participated in the revolution in 2011. She is a leader in the Southern Movement that calls for separation. In 2012, Huda along with political activists established a committee called the Stream of Intellectuals for a New South. She implemented many workshops and seminars and was the official speaker of the committee. Al-Attas participated in many conferences and official meetings calling for peace and resolving the issue of Yemen, the south in particular, through political mediation. In this regard, Huda attended the talks held in Stockholm within the Advisory Committee of the UN Envoy.

النبذة: هدى العطاس(hudaalattas27@) أستاذة في جامعة عدن متخصصة في ادب علم الاجتماع. هي أديبة صدرت لها عدة مجموعات قصصية، آخر مجموعة باسم واحدان صدرت نهاية 2018، حيث تركز اهتمام حول قضايا النساء وصورهن الاجتماعية في النصوص والخطاب السردي والأدبي. نالت عن بعض اعمالها عدة جوائز وتكريمات عربية ويمنية، منها جائزة مؤسسية العفيف اليمنية، و جائزة الشارقة، و جائزة مجلة ديوان الأدب العربية، و تكريم درع محافظة حضرموت كأهم أديبة حضرمية، و صنفت لمرات متتالية كأفضل قاصة في استطلاع الصحافة اليمنية. ترجمت قصصها إلى عدة لغات، ودخلت بعضها في منهج تدريس اللغة العربية في معهد العالم العربي في باريس، ونشرت في كثير من الدوريات والملاحق الأجنبية والعربية.
العطاس عضوة اتحاد الأدباء والكتاب العرب، واتحاد الأدباء والكتاب اليمنيين. فازت بأغلبية ساحقة في دورة انتخاب الأمانة العامة في اتحاد الأدباء الكتاب اليمنيين عام 2001. اعد تلك أول مرة في تاريخ انتخابات الاتحاد توجد نساء في قوام امانته العامة، حيث تقلدت مسئولة أمانة الحقوق والحريات، ومسئولية الأمانة الإدارية في الاتحاد، و خاضت معارك عديدة تتعلق بالدفاع عن حرية الراي والتعبير. لها مقالات وأعمد أسبوعية في العديد من الصحف والجرائد كصحيفة الجمهورية الثقافية، وصحيفة النداء، وجريدة الوطن العمانية. أنشئت العطاس المؤسسة اليمنية للدراسات الاجتماعية وعنيت المؤسسة بتنفيذ دراسات عديدة حول الفساد، والعملية الديمقراطية، ومواقع النساء في السلطة والمجتمع. أصدرت المؤسسة عدة كتب ودراسات في هذا الشأن.
إلى جانب كتاباتها التي تطرقت للشأن السياسي، كانت هدى ممن نزلوا إلى الساحات في ثورة 2011، كما التحقت بالحراك الجنوبي ضمن الفصيل الذي يطالب بفك الارتباط عن الوحدة. تعد أحد القيادات النسائية في الحراك الجنوبي وقد قامت عام 2012 مع نشطاء سياسيون وأساتذة جامعة ومثقفين جنوبيين بتأسيس تيار مثقفون من أجل جنوب جديد. نفذ التيار فعاليات وأنشطة عديدة وندوات وورش عمل، وقد تقلدت هدى مهمة الناطق الرسمي للجنة. شاركت في فعاليات وتصريحات صحفية تدعو للسلام وحل القضايا اليمنية عموما والقضية الجنوبية حصرا، من خلال مسارات الحوار والتسويات السياسية. في هذا السياق، شاركت في محادثات السويد استكهولم عام 2018 حيث كانت مرشحة من قبل المبعوث الأممي في عضوية اللجنة الاستشارية السياسية التي شكلها أثناء المحادثات.
